Your guide and driver meet you at the airport and transfer to Shangri-La Hotel/Kempinski Hotel. Next, we will have a city sightseeing tour. First, visit Gandantegchilen monastery, followed by a visit to the Central Squire and the National Museum of Mongolia. In the evening, attend traditional cultural performance which is one of the most interesting and must see things in Ulaanbaatar with its play of a horse headed fiddle, throat singing, contortion, colorful dance and much more.

Meet at the hotel lobby and transfer to the airport for the Gobi flight. The flight to the Gobi takes 1.5 hours. Enjoy the beauty of the vast open, empty Gobi desert while driving to Khongor Sand Dunes. Khongor is the largest sand dunes in Mongolia reach a height of 300 m above the surrounding area at its highest, 5-35 km wide and 100 km long. The dunes also called “Singing Dunes” because of their sound caused by the wind. Visit a camel herding nomad family, learn about their unique life, see and experience what they do daily and have some camel riding. Next, we will drive short an area where you can find a path to climb the dunes. Highest tops of the dunes can be climbed, and the views of the desert from the top are indescribably beautiful. If you climb on the top of one of the highest sand dunes, please spread the sand northwards from its top to find why the dune is called “Singing Dunes” (sand singing is available only when the sand is dry).

After breakfast, we will drive through West Saikhan Mountain and over the steppes. Arrive at Three Camel Lodge by lunch time. After lunch, we will drive to Flaming Cliffs and Bayanzag. Flaming Cliffs (former dinosaur excavation site) is an area of red cliffs, which formed through the erosion of sand and rock over many thousands of years. American explorer Roy Chapmen Andrews found a cemetery of dinosaurs here in 1922 and named the place at its appearance. This place is renowned for the discovery of the first dinosaur eggs in the world. See Flaming Cliffs and hike through the cliffs if you want. In addition, there is a grove of saxual trees located 5 km from the cliffs. The Saxual tree grows only in Central Asian semi-desert. The tree is always green even in very dry summer as it has long roots. Arrive back the Three Camel Lodge, relax and enjoy the beauty of the Gobi from an open terrace.

Eagle Valley is one of the most beautiful valleys in the Gobi Gurvan Saihan Mountain/National Park. You may find pieces of ice in shadowy areas of the valley’s steep canyon even in hot summer. People are always amazed when they see this beautiful green valley in the Gobi desert. If you are there at the right time, you will have a chance to see wild animals such as ibex, mountain sheep, and deer. In the morning, when upper parts of the canyon accept sunlight and when the sun goes down in the evening, golden eagles can be seen flying from their nests. The valley was named after these birds. There you will hike 4-5 km into the depths of the valley. Instead of hiking, you can hire a camel or a horse. If you are an active traveler, hiking through the Eagle Valley from the south to the north of Zuun Saikhan Mountain is available. Today, we also explore petroglyphs dating back to The Bronze Age.

The tour excludes:
This is a standard and easy access tour to discover highlights of the beautiful Gobi within three days after one and half hour domestic flight. You will stay the nomadic dwelling Gers of the Ger camps in the countryside. The tour has not included any demanding physical activities. You will have only 3-4 hours driving on steppes and through scenic views between the attractions. Rest of the day, you will have some light activities such as 1-3 hours soft hiking, an hour camel riding, visit a nomad family, see the attractions and explore surrounding areas etc. The most challenging experience of the tour could be climbing high sand dunes in the Gobi, which is not mandatory and you can enjoy the sand dunes and yourself while climbing one of the low sand hills.
You will stay at international 5* Kempinski Hotel or Shangri-La Hotel in Ulaanbaatar. You will have 2 overnights in the Gobi; one day at the ensuite wood house of Gobi-Erdene ger camp where a private bathroom is available. The other two days, you will stay the Gobi luxurious eco-lodge Three Camel.
Most of our company’s guides are English speaking. We also have some guides who speak German, French, Spanish and Japanese. They are all friendly, helpful and most of them were born and grown in the countryside. Therefore, they have good knowledge about every aspect of Mongolia and they have at least three years or more years of guiding experience. A local guide will follow you during the camel riding.
The tour specializes two ways domestic flights to and from the Gobi which saves a lot of time and helps you to travel the interesting, famous and new emerging destination Gobi within a short period. The domestic flights run every day between 1 June and 31 August and run on certain days in May and September. About the land transport, Toyota Land Cruiser jeeps serve for you in the countryside and the vehicle type in the city may differ depends on the number of the participants in the tour.
The most suitable time to travel the Gobi is between 20 May and 10 September. During this period, the weather will be warm and enjoyable. The Gobi or southern Mongolia is the warmest region in Mongolia. The annual temperature is usually 2-10°C higher than other parts of Mongolia. However, you should not expect warm weather during the trip or in some time as Mongolia is elevated at least 700 m high above surrounding Siberian plateau and Chinese territory. Therefore, the weather fluctuates a lot hourly, daytime and at nights. The temperature drops 10-20°C in the evening and at nights. You may have occasional chill wind in May, September, and October while wind storm is frequent in March and April. Average monthly temperatures are +20°C, highest +30°C daytime, and the night temperature may drop to +8°C at the end of May, June, late August, and September. July could be the hottest or be humidity. Average day temperature of July is +30°C, the hottest +40°C and night temperature could drop to +12°C although some nights could be sultriness.
